The 92nd Street Y

I am listening to Barbara Bonney and a guitar, eating a pineapple. She is singing really well. If I had the money, would I go to see more live recitals, probably.

I remember hearing stories about legendary Carnegie Hall vocal recitals ringing around the world back in the 50's, but I don't think Modern New Yorkers have the constitution to sit through recitals of classical music anymore unless the headliner is a former TV star, a crossover artist or Renee Fleming.

Anytime I attend anything at Lincoln Center or even the 92nd Street Y, the people in the audience all look old.

You can hear great chamber music at Bargemusic, performed on a docked boat at Fulton Ferry landing by the Brooklyn Bridge. I went recently, and it was really fun. (Added bonus: You can watch the senset over lower Manhattan.) www.bargemusic.org
