And When October Goes

For years and years as a young actor, I would approach every audition with the express purpose of teaching the playright and/or casting director exactly how the part should be played, hoping to impress them with my dramaturgy. I realize this has been erroneous.

Sure, it is the notion of all artists: that their way is somehow new and innovative. Well, in order to earn a living in Los Angeles as an actor, you must prove in an audition that you are exactly what they are looking for only because you’re good at interpreting material and acting just like yourself instead of thinking about any textbook acting technique at all. After all, I'm getting tired of being broke.
